Holiday Decorating 2011

Are you ready for Christmas?  I still can't believe that it is less than two weeks away!  Yikes.  Shopping is done but I have not started wrapping and there are a few things I'm making that still need to be finished.

My Holiday decorating is finished.  I really don't do too much - just the tree and a few other things.

My tree is a 7' Fraser Fir.  I am definitely a real tree girl.  Artificial trees just aren't for me.  We go to a tree farm every year and cut our own trees.  It's a fun tradition.

No new ornaments on the tree this year.  I've collected these over the last several years.

I didn't really set out to have a theme for my tree, but I do have a lot of acorn, pinecone, and leaf ornaments.

One year I made a whole bunch of these paper stars.

I posted about my Holiday mantel last week.  You can see the post right here.

A wicker tray on the coffee table.  I love to place fresh greens in vases.

Leftover cedar branches went in a small vase.

Now, if we could just have some snow, it would feel like Christmas!  Today it is pouring rain and is going to reach 50.  Not typical for the middle of December here in Michigan!

Beautiful tree and decorations, I love your color scheme. I too have a family tradition of cutting down our tree at a farm and I love it! I am always surprised when people have not done this. Thank you for the comment yesterday, it really is great to meet fellow interior designers!

Looks so pretty BG! Can't wait to get home and bask in the glow of the tree with you and some vino! Your cedar looks great! I'm kind of bummed about my cedar garland, it is completely dry and crispy now, looks OK, but not as pretty as the fresher, green that you have.

Beautiful as always! I agree rainy, soggy weather in December is not your typical Michigan weather. I am ready for the beauty of snow. Have a wonderful week!

Absolutely Gorgeous!! I love the green.

Your tree is beautiful! Our tree has a mismatch of all different kinds of ornaments, no theme or style. I like it but seeing your tree makes me want to do it a bit differently next year :)

I love the look of the branches in water vases. I cut a few branches from the neighborhood and put them in slim vases filled with Epsom salt and cranberries on top. Next I cut out a "Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!" tag and hung it on my decoration. I love the subtlety of these decorations.

So pretty, Alissa! Again, loving the color scheme of your Christmas decorating, and all the fresh greens! Simple, beautiful and festive. Hope you are enjoying it all!

Gorgeous - I like the color scheme with all greens and silvers. Always been a gold and red tree kinda gal myself, but that looks very crisp!

Quick question- the paper star ornaments you wrote about, is there a tutorial online somewhere about how to fold them? I really like them.

Thanks for sharing your home!

Your tree is so BEAUTIFUL! It makes me want a real tree again. I agree, nothing beats the look & scent of a real one. Will you come over and string the lights for me? LOL!

Happy Holidays!

Lovely! Love how you have so much green - not surprised!

I am jealous your place is so bright and sunny - it is so gray here, hard to take nice photos!

Enjoy the season Alissa - hugs!

We can't do a real tree due to allergies so we cheat and light our Yankee Candle Balsam & Cedar scented one, hehe, makes me "feel like" there's a real on there. ;)

Gorgeous! Love the color scheme. I love organic colors and materials -warm textures, woods, greens, browns. The fella is a minimalist and prefers cold colors. *sigh* We're still trying to find a happy medium in the house decor. lol

Beautiful! I love all the real greens everywhere. It is so pretty... and I'm sure smells so good! Your tree is stunning. I live in Nebraska and we had a crazy warm day with rain today too. Washed away almost all of the snow!

I think it goes without saying that everything is lovely!

Growing up, my family always cut our trees down also...a Fraser Fir every year! :D

Your tree is stunning, Alissa! I wish we could have a real tree but it just wouldn't survive in the hot Aussie heat!

I have joined the Nester's party too! Please pop by and visit my Christmas blog if you have time!

Take care and best Christmas wishes,
Natasha.

Love your tree - same here! No fake trees for me (unless we were living overseas and spending Christmas in the tropics, then you take what you can get). We always cross over into NC to cut our own the day after Thanksgiving and it's such a fun tradition and the farm is just fantastic. In fact, this year I have two FREE Charlie Brown trees on either side of our front door that I got from the farm - gotta love that! :-) Your home is beautiful and I LOVE the simplicity! Merry Christmas!

When I saw the paper stars on your tree, I was flooded with memories of being a little girl. My mom had made stars for our tree and I would so love to have the instructions. Can you help me out with that? Thank you so much! Merry Christmas!
