Baby Surprise Jacket II

.
A few weeks ago I finished my second Baby Surprise Jacket.  I actually started this one first but set is aside so I could make this one as a baby gift for a friend.
.
Knitting this was really fun.  I'm not a very experienced knitter, and there are definitely a few mistakes, but not too bad for my second sweater!
.
I used a US size 4 circular needle.

I sort of fell in love with this little sweater while I was making it.  I don't think I'll be able to part with it!
.
If you are interested in the pattern it can be purchased from the School House Press here.
.
In other news, I started training for a 5k four weeks ago and last week developed 'runners knee'.  I have been hobbling around for the last week.  I went to the doctor today and they gave me prescription strength Motrin.  Has this ever happened to anyone?  Any tips?  It is hard to walk and so painful!  Just when I thought I might actually become a runner. . .
.
.
Even though our Spartans didn't win this weekend, we still had a great time in Indy.

I have a feeling that my Spartans will be back next year!

  1. Cute baby jacket! And I love that color.

Good for you training for a 5k! My husband is a runner and he said it's fairly normal to get injured in the beginning- it takes a while for your body get used to running but be careful not to overtrain, which causes most injuries. He also suggested getting a heart rate monitor when you start running again to help keep from overtraining (which he used to do all the time until he got one- and he hasn't had an injury since).

  2. LOVE THAT SWEATER! If I ever have babies some day I may have to commission you to make one for them!

And I didn't know that you actually WENT to the game. I was cheering for you all...sorry it didn't work out.

If Duke wins I'm gonna ralph. There is no other explanation for their current lead then that the refs have been bribed...

  4. I love the sweater! I also am a knitter but I don't think I could do that! I am more of a hat/wash rag level knitter.

    Thanks for sharing, it's beautiful.

  5. I've been wanting to learn to knit- my grandmother had me crocheting when I was very young. I absolutely love that little jacket. The color is gorgeous and the lines are wonderful.
I happen to be a CES/personal trainer/nutritionist. I often deal with these kind of rehab issues. It happens often when people "over" train. It doesn't necessarily mean you won't be a runner, but you will have to be careful. Feel better

  10. Sorry about the knees. I have run but have never really had too much problems unless my shoes were worn out, then the knees hurt. Have you been properly fit for runners? I know it sounds weird but improperly fit shoes can lead to knee issues. Don't know if you have a Runner's Room out there?

Love the sweater. Lucky baby - I think you did an amazing job!'I think I started a hat when I had the swine flu and don't know where I put it. Hmm..

  11. That little sweater is so darling! I wish I could knit. I also wish my son was small enough to wear such adorable things! Great job!

Also, I'm not an expert on running, but I know I had a lot of foot problems / back problems, etc. until I bought a really nice, expensive pair of running shoes. I hate to say it, but I really do think it makes a big difference.

Hope that your knees feel better!

  16. I started the Couch to 5K program back in January and am almost finished with it. My biggest piece of advice is to SLOW DOWN. Most people start out running way too fast. I'm like a turtle and have had zero injuries or issues with soreness. Once I am running for 30 minutes straight (almost there), I will start slowly increasing my speed.

  17. This is a belated comment but I love the baby sweater! I showed my sister (an avid knitter) and she loved it to :). I am also training for a 5k...I didn't know there was such a thing as "runners knee" - how do you avoid that?!
