A New Coffee Table

.
I have been looking for a new coffee table for over a year now.  I had my eye on the Durham Cocktail Table from Ballard Designs for just about as long.  As an interior designer I get a 15% discount there (lucky me, right?).  Well, they recently sent me a 20% off coupon for designers and I knew it was time to buy the table.
.
.
I haven't accessorized the table yet, so don't mind the lone ivy topiary and basket!
.
.
The size of the table (50" x 24") is the perfect size for my family room.  I love the lower shelf too - the perfect spot for books and magazines.
.
.
The table has a heavily distressed look.  I have to say, the wood color is quite different from the photos in the catalog and online.  I was a little surprised, but luckily I like how it looks.  That's the risk you take purchasing something online without seeing it first, right?
.
.
.
My old coffee table had a dark wood finish - the same finish as the ottoman legs and another side table I have in the room.  I was so sick of all the same brown!  It's nice to have something new in the mix.
.
I just realized I tweeted that I was going to post on the Amy Butler Anna Tunic I recently finished sewing.  Will post about that next!

  1. I like the table, Alissa. I always worry about ordering furniture because of color variations, too. Luckily I've never had to send anything back :) Great piece.

  5. Love it! I too worry about ordering on line as well. Just ordered fabric swatches which was nice, then I was able to decided yay or nay! I love your weathered wood mixed with metal table, it will be fun stacking magazines and books underneath. As usual, you will style it beautifully!

  6. The worn look to the wood planks look great in there. It has a nice warmth to it. Great choice!

  16. Alissa, I love that table. It is just what I need. I have a very wierd laminate one from ikea which I can't get attached to, but what the heck, I got it free on the side of the road!
    Enjoy your table!

    1. Hi there - I still have the coffee table and use it in my living room! In fact, I just posted a photo on Instagram this morning that includes the table! I've never had an issue with the finish coming off. That seems strange! Honestly, doesn't even seem like that would be possible. I really like how distressed the top is because it shows absolutely no wear. You can do anything to it and it still looks great. Hope that helps!
